- JAM 2022 application portal will allow editing of data after scrutiny. Wait for the announcement of defective applications. Some changes may require you to pay additional fees.
- How do I change my preference for the exam cities?
- In exceptional circumstances, a change of examination city/town may be permitted, if a request with a valid reason is submitted through the JAM 2022 application portal on or before the deadline specified by JAM 2022 organizing institute, along with an ONLINE payment of ₹ 500. Please note that payment of ₹ 500 is non-refundable and does not necessarily guarantee change of the city. The decision of the Organizing Institute will be final in this respect.
- I have received an email to rectify defect. How do I do it? What is the last date to do it?
- Scrutiny and verification of documents is a manual process and is time-consuming. You have to login to JAM 2022 application portal to rectify any defects within the stipulated date. Otherwise, your application may be rejected.
- Do I have to pay some fees to rectify defects?
- There is no fee for fixing the defects identified during scrutiny. However, any other changes may require you to pay a fee.
- Why is my application showing "Under Scrutiny" OR "Under Process"?
- All applications are subject to scrutiny and verification. You will get an email once your application has been scrutinized.
- I am a foreign national. Am I eligible to apply for JAM?
- Yes, JAM is open to foreign nationals.
- Is filling an Indian mobile number mandatory for JAM application?
- Yes, candidates need to fill a 10-digit mobile number while filling the application form. If you don’t have an Indian mobile number, fill an Indian number of a friend or relative. All information and updates will be sent by SMS to this number and also to the e-mail address provided.
- I am not getting information through SMS from JAM 2022 Organizing Institute?
- Information regarding JAM 2022 will be sent through SMS also. You are advised to keep JAM 2022 Sender Id unblocked.
- I have already paid my application fee. However, the JAM 2022 application portal shows that the payment is not done.
- Please logout of the JAM 2022 application portal and login after some time to check if the payment is reflected. If not, contact the JAM Helpdesk by e-mail.
- I have successfully submitted my application for a JAM paper. I want to appear for one more JAM paper. How do I make this change?
- Login to JAM 2022 application portal and click on “Add Paper” and choose from the list and pay the applicable fee. A candidate can appear for a maximum of two papers in JAM 2022.
- I belong to OBC(NCL)/EWS category. Where should I upload my category certificate?
- Only SC/ST/PwD candidates, who are eligible for concession in the application fee are required to upload the category certificate during the submission of application for JAM examination.

- How can I apply to the M.Sc. or Integrated Ph.D. Programmes at IISc ?
- Students must separately apply to the IISc degree programmes through their admissions website and fill in their JAM result. For M.Sc. Life Sciences and Integrated Ph.D., the JAM results will be used to shortlist candidates for an interview before the final selection. For M.Sc. - Due to COVID 19, I got promoted without a marksheet. What should I do in this case?
- Eligibility requirement on aggregate marks is relaxed to "Pass in the qualifying examination" for JAM 2022 admissions. You can submit the promotion certificate in place of the marksheet. However, the promotion certificate or a document accompanying the promotion certificate duly signed by the Head of the Institute must mention the subjects taken in that semester/year, to evaluate the MEQ requirements for admission to a specific programme.
- I am unable to submit the documents required for my application to JAM 2022 admission. What should I do?
- Submit the undertaking if you are not having nationality certificate (not required for OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST candidates), qualifying degree certificate, and marksheet(s) of the courses of the qualifying degree in possession during filling of the application form. Make sure that you tick all the documents that are missing in the application. Any offer made to a candidate will be provisional until all required documents are submitted.
All other documents required for admission are mandatory. If you fail to submit category/PwD certificate, your application will be considered as General Category candidate.
- What is the deadline for the submission of documents, in case I am unable to submit them along with my application to admission?
- Missing document(s) declared in the undertaking can be uploaded on the Candidate Portal on or before June 30, 2022 for your application to be considered complete, otherwise your admission will be considered as provisional.
The required documents must be submitted to the admitting Institute before 30 September 2022. Any offer made to you will be provisional until all required documents are submitted, else the seat gets automatically cancelled after this deadline.
- Are category certificates issued in the regional languages accepted?
- Category certificates issued in regional languages are accepted, if they are signed by competent authorities as mentioned in the JAM 2022 admission brochure.
- I am not able to submit my category certificate. Will I still be eligible to avail the reservation?
- Candidates seeking admission under OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST categories must submit a valid category certificate issued by a competent authority as specified in the admission brochure, failing which they will NOT be considered for admission under the reserved category.
- Can I change my category during filling of the admission form? What documents I need to submit?
- Eligible candidates with change of category can apply for admission with valid category certificate (irrespective of the category mentioned on the Candidate Portal). No documents are required for change to General Category.
- What should be the date of issue of OBC-NCL/EWS certificate? Do I need to get the OBC-NCL/EWS certificate for current financial year?
- The date of issue of the OBC-NCL/EWS certificate must be after March 31, 2021 for consideration during the admission round. However, it is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that their category remains unchanged at the time of joining the admitting institute, failing which their admission may stand cancelled. You are suggested to have OBC-NCL/EWS certificate for the current financial year before joining the admitting institute.
- How to get opening and closing ranks of different programmes of JAM 2021?
- This information will be available in the admission form. New programmes added in JAM 2022 will not be having such information displayed in the admission form. Note that the name of some programmes (with same programme code mentioned in JAM 2021) may have changed in JAM 2022.
- How many preferences I can fill in the admission form?
- There is no limit to the number of preferences provided you satisfy the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) of the programmes.
- I have got the JAM 2022 Scorecard but why I am not able to submit the application form?
- It is possible that you are not in the merit list, decided based on the category-wise cut-offs.
- I have already paid my application fee. However, the JAM 2022 application portal shows that the payment is not done.
- If the payment of application fee is successful, it will automatically be reflected in the JAM portal. Please logout of the JAM 2022 application portal and login after some time to check if the payment is reflected. If the payment is not successful, you are suggested to pay the application fee again. In case your payment is not successful, consult your bank if a refund is not received within a couple of days.
- The portal is asking to submit “qualifying degree third year academic details”. What to do?
- You need to fill the course (subject) details for all years of qualifying degree using Add Record option. Fill “00” in marks field if the results are awaited or the exam is not held. You should submit the marksheets of years that are available with you. Fill the undertaking given in the admission form.
- My university has provided me a provisional degree certificate. What to do?
- You should fill the undertaking and submit the certificate that you are having. You should contact the admitting institute (after an offer is made) regarding the requirement of original degree certificate.
- My final exams are not held yet. What to do?
- You should fill the undertaking and submit the marksheets available with you. Note that you must have the proof of passing the qualifying degree before joining the admitting institute, once an offer is made.
